  "Remember two weeks ago when every cosplaying “indie” band and their sycophantic supporters completely melted down upon being told (by me) that they are, in fact, full of shit? That was super depressing! But I have friends in low places (Philadelphia) and was invited to a house show there last weekend featuring idiosyncratic duo DeStructos, which restored my faith in humanity via the persistence of true DIY and basement punks who don’t sound like a pile of money. The B-52s get brought up a lot in (all three) reviews of this band because of the yelpy call-and-response, boy-girl vocals, but I also hear a lot of early Sleater-Kinney in their razor-sharp guitar lines and chaotic energy—not really saying much, I guess, since S-K are, also, dedicated B-52s followers. So, let’s just say ultra-revved up Vivienne Styg minus the swampiness/added scariness. The b-side of this cassette release features some remixes of the original tracks, all of which offer unique, dance-worthy spins on the original tracks."

Destructos are re-releasing their debut tape with additional remixes for each song on a cassette with the always great Girlsville. This band is kind of like if all the NY and Philly OG No Wave bands and the B-52’s had a mutant baby and it looked like a fucked up green glowing dolphin hurling through space on a crystal shooting beams out of its blowhole. Duel vocal big hooks over fast af dancy punk jams. The remixes are out of this world. I love how singular and unique this is. Don’t sleep, my froggingtons. Pre-order it now. The “Gabber Mix” of “The Sight” goes full-bore ALEC EMPIRE digital hardcore with relentless 808 bass drum mayhem. The “Mr. Policeman Mix” of “Neutron” could have been released on Grand Royal in the ’90s; all crackling vinyl, dubby bass and vocals, and big beat choruses. “She’s Got the Master Plan (Flanafi Mix)” bubbles with rattling techno drums and a hyper-pop approach to the vocals."
